PORTRAITS OF A TIMELESS NATION

I rediscovered my roots while working on this project, which took me on a journey through the rural areas of the Dominican Republic, my homeland. I left the Dominican Republic at the age of seven to move to Europe with my family, but my memories of the country remain vivid and bright.

Through this project, I aim to show that the Dominican Republic is much more than just its golden beaches and palm trees. It is a land where people face significant challenges, with education, healthcare, and safety often out of reach.

Despite these hardships, I witnessed the resilience and kindness of the Dominican people. They remain unbowed by decades of corruption, poverty, and land exploitation, standing proud, strong, and ready to help one another, always smiling at the problems life throws at them.
